I was part of the worship team at my home church (City Church, Worcester) and we were going to be having a creative evening writing our own new songs. I dreaded these evenings, as I never had anything to contribute! (Actually, it was more to do with the fear of man that held me back.) Anyway, I decided I’d prepare for this evening and take something along. I began forming ideas of using unusual words to describe God and I’d been playing around with a couple of chords on the guitar – A2 & D2 – that would be a place to start – at least I had something to take.

Little did I know that God had a better plan! He woke me on this morning in October with complete sentences, a framework, a pattern and a tune to this song, based on the original ideas I’d had. By 8.30am the song was complete. I shared it on the Monday night at the team meeting and was overwhelmed by the response. A couple of weeks later, after working on an arrangement with the band, we introduced it to the congregation and before we finished the song, they were all joining in – I felt it such a privilege.
