'Kings Chamber Orchestra are professional, creative, inspiring, entertaining, but more than that, they enable the listeners to tune into the melody of heaven.' J.John
What do you get when you put a group of classical musicians in a decent recording studio with God? What you get is something pretty remarkable and wholly unique – you get String Heaven, the latest album by The King’s Chamber Orchestra – one of the most extraordinary professional orchestras of the day.
String Heaven takes a handful of worship classics and plugs them into the full on, hand carved, classically trained machine that is The King’s Chamber Orchestra. From Kendrick to Redman, Hillsong to Delirious, Tim Hughes to John Newton, the album rises and sets with instantly recognisable yet infinitely good reinterpretations of some of the best-loved worship songs around today.
The Kings Chamber Orchestra is an outstanding professional orchestra, formed in 1985 by Gerard Le Feuvre, with a unique approach to performing in the London scene. Their ability to touch the public through improvisations and worship has attracted large and often unprecedented audiences wherever they regularly perform. Says Gerard, “One of the hallmarks of our 25 year career as an orchestra has been bringing improvised music to our audiences. More often than not we might have spent hours practising Mozart or Dvorak, but the biggest reaction from the audience comes for the improvisations which had no rehearsal and which come straight from the heart. We have no scientific answer for those musical enthusiasts who pursue us for an explanation as to how we are able to achieve these wonderful spontaneous moments, other than to point to the prayer and worship that underpins it all, and ultimately to point to Jesus “the author and perfector of our faith” and of our music!
“It is no easy task to record spontaneity but as far as possible we have tried to mirror these special moments in concerts by recording whole takes with little or no editing: what you get is the Kings Chamber Orchestra as we really are. This is our first entire album of those special moments based around some of our favourite worship songs.”
Gerard le Feuvre’s list of accolades is long – described as ‘a cellist of the highest class’ in the international press, receiving standing ovations both sides of the Atlantic and honoured by the Royal Academy of Music with the title Associate for ‘outstanding achievement in the music profession’.
